What we do
Most failed patios in Massachusetts failed underground. Not enough excavation, base spread in one thick lift instead of compacted in layers, no thought given to where the water goes. The stone looks fine for two seasons, then the frost lifts one corner and the whole field goes wavy.
We dig to depth, compact the base in lifts, screed the setting bed flat and set the pattern with a consistent joint. The field is pitched away from the house so water leaves on its own. Around a pool, the coping is set first and everything else is worked off that line, so the edge you see every day is the straight one.

Concrete paver fields in the pattern and blend you pick, with a contrasting border that frames the space and holds the edge.
Full surrounds in paver or bluestone, coping set level with the water line, slip aware surfaces and drainage that keeps puddles off the deck.
Natural cleft or thermal bluestone, dry laid or mortar set over concrete, for a surface that gets better with age.
Granite treads, seat walls, fire pit surrounds and inlay borders that break up a large field and give it a center.
Regrading around the patio, catch basins and drain lines where the ground pushes water back toward the house.
Sunken sections lifted, base rebuilt and the same stone reset, when the field is worth saving.
How we work
We look at the grade, the drainage and the access, take measurements and talk through material and color options with samples.
Scope, base depth, material, square footage and price, in writing, so you can compare it line by line against anyone else.
We excavate, build, clean up daily, then walk the finished job with you and go over how to care for it.

Questions
Most residential patios run three to six working days from excavation to final sweep, depending on square footage, access to the yard and how much grading the site needs. Pool decks usually take a week or more.
Anything from spring thaw through late fall works. We build well into November most years. Winter jobs depend on frost in the ground, and we will tell you honestly if it is better to wait.
Not when the base is right. Settling almost always traces back to shallow excavation or base that was never compacted in lifts. That is the part of the job we refuse to rush.
Pavers stay cooler underfoot, can be lifted and reset if a section moves, and do not crack across the field. Stamped concrete costs less on large areas. We will walk you through both on site.
