Driveways and stamped concrete in Greater Boston

Asphalt, pavers and stamped concrete, built on a base that carries the weight of everything you park on it.

What we do

A driveway carries more weight than the rest of the yard combined

Cracks and potholes in a driveway are a base problem showing up on the surface. Two inches of asphalt over soft ground will fail no matter how good the paving crew is, and a slab poured on unprepared fill will crack on the first hard winter.

We excavate to the right depth for the traffic the surface will carry, compact the base in lifts, set the pitch so water runs off the drive and away from the garage, and only then pave or pour. Concrete gets proper reinforcement and control joints cut on time, so it cracks where we choose instead of where it wants.

Our standard

How we build it

Included

Everything under driveways & stamped concrete

One crew from the excavation to the final sweep, so nothing gets lost between trades.

Asphalt driveways

New drives and full replacements, excavated, based and paved, with the apron tied into the street the way the town expects.

Paver driveways

Interlocking paver drives rated for vehicle load, for a front entrance that reads as part of the house.

Stamped concrete

Patterned and colored concrete for drives, patios and walks, sealed and jointed so the pattern stays sharp.

Concrete slabs and pads

Shed pads, garage floors, hot tub pads and equipment slabs, poured flat, level and reinforced.

Aprons and curbing

Granite curb, belgian block edging and driveway aprons that hold the line and keep the lawn out of the drive.

Drainage work

Trench drains, catch basins and regrading where water currently runs toward the garage instead of away from it.

How we work

From first call to final walk

Step 01

On site walkthrough

We look at the grade, the drainage and the access, take measurements and talk through material and color options with samples.

Step 02

Written estimate

Scope, base depth, material, square footage and price, in writing, so you can compare it line by line against anyone else.

Step 03

Build and final walk

We excavate, build, clean up daily, then walk the finished job with you and go over how to care for it.

Questions

What homeowners ask us

How long before I can drive on a new driveway?

Asphalt can take light traffic in one to two days and should be kept clear of heavy vehicles for a few weeks in hot weather. Concrete takes seven days for cars and about a month to reach full strength.

Asphalt or concrete in Massachusetts?

Asphalt costs less up front, handles frost movement well and is easy to repair. Concrete and pavers last longer and look better at the front of a house. We give you real numbers for both on your lot.

Do I need a permit for a new driveway?

Anything touching the street apron usually needs a town permit and sometimes a street opening approval. We handle that conversation with the town as part of the job.

Can you fix drainage while you are at it?

That is usually the right moment to do it. Once we are excavating, adding a trench drain or regrading the approach costs a fraction of what it does as a separate job later.
